Weekend in Singapore

It's the weekend again..I'm back in Singapore.^_^

Right now my sis's in Genting. She left for her year-end school trip yesterday. She gets to stay in Genting for three days and KL for one days. So that means that she is able to play non-stop in the themepark for three consecutive days..Wow..

My mum picked me up from my school yesterday and we went straight to Singapore..We had to go to school yesterday because of some replacement for the Hari Raya Holidays..Only our school and Foon Yew had schooling, it isn't fair..Why does our school have so many replacement holidays? Oh, well...I think yesterday's the last replacement, which is good.

We stayed overnight at my godmother's house. She owns a penthouse, the kind of house that youngsters nowadays like to stay at, because the structure of the house is very close to the roof..

My godmother owns a dog called Nelly. When she first saw me, she licked my hands and feet non-stop..It was the first time I got that close with a pet..I am not the animal-lover like some of my friends, so this is the first time a dog's licked me..My godmom says Nelly likes to make friends, and she probably wants to be friends with me..Well, it's okay to be friendly, but Nelly actually licked my hands every 15-20 minutes..Which is ticklish..Very. But she's really cute for a dog. She's very greedy when it comes to food. My godmom's son told me that she swallowed one whole mooncake which is left on the dining table by herself! But I'm a total idiot when it comes to taking care of dogs, so I won't ever rear one..

My mum and I went to Parkway Parade today. I told my mom after lunch that I wanted to go to a manga shop there.

I scrutinized the book shelves one by one..All the manga sold there are considered authentic because they are distributed by licensed publishers..The ones sold in Malaysia are considered "pirated" ones..You know, those that are sold at RM4.50 each, aren't original..But nobody cares because an original manga costs at least $5.00(Sing dollars), which is not affordable if you want to purchase large amounts of manga in one go.

I saw the first volume of La Corda D'oro there..My heart leaped..I have always wanted to buy it but I just can't find the "economical" version in Malaysia..So I guess I will just buy the original one..

I took it from the shelf. The only problem's now is my mom. She usually allows me to buy manga or anime anytime as long as I can pay myself..But in Singapore, I can't buy as "freely" as in Malaysia because most of the time, I don't have Singapore currency..I remember I have 4 $1 coins that originate from my ang pow money from my godmom in my bag..They're buried so deep in my bag that I can't seem to look for it..My mom came and said that we would be leaving to go see some electronic products..I held on to the manga tightly, looking at my mom with the "I-want-to-buy-this-manga" expression. She suddenly asked me,"How much is it?"

I replied,"They didn't state the price, but I guess it's $5 something." Original manga translated in Chinese usually cost something like this, I think."I may have $4 in my bag...", I fumbled through my bag..

"Take this..", said my mom. She passed me two $2 notes.."That should be enough..", I rummaged through my bag. Fortunately, I found two $1 coins..This way, the amount of the money now should sum up to the total amount of money needed.

"I'll wait for you outside the electronics shop", said my mom. I quickly lined up at the counter. Two boys standing in front of me held four Bleach mangas in their hands. The cashier told them that the total amount of money for all the mangas was about $20 something..I heaved a sigh of relief because the money in my hand may just be enough. When it's my turn, the cashier scanned the bar code, smiled at me, and said "$7.44, please."

I looked at the $6 in my hand..Looks like I still don't have enough money.. I remember that there was still two $1 coins in my bag.Lifesaver.I started rummaging through my bag..I pulled out a $1 coin..Now's there one more left..One more, and I will have enough.

"Where is it?" I can't seem to find it..The cashier looked at me, and said,"It's okay, you can just pay the amount of money you have now."

I was embarrased. Never before in my life have I experience such a situation whereby I don't pay the exact amount of cash to a cashier. I tried looking again, but realize it was no use. So the cashier gave me a discount. And I paid $7 for the manga.

I felt rather bad that I ran out of the store right after I paid the cashier. I checked my bag again and found the $1 in it. Wish I had found it earlier.

My mom brought me to Ben and Jerry's after visiting a furniture shop. She asked me to go buy a Tiramisu myself. I checked the price. It was $6.50. My mom gave me $6 with a few coins. I was worried the amount of money wasn't sufficient. The cashier counted and said,"It's $7.50"..

Great. I'm not even sure if the coins add up the remaing $1.50. Is the tip in Singapore that much? I decided to just give whatever I have to the cashier without calculating the exact amount of the money I have now. I quickly looked towards my mom's table in fear that the amount wasn't enough..

Strangely, there was no"Miss, you need to pay $xxx more" kind of thing. The cashier just said, "Thank you very much. Is this where you are sitting?" She looked at the direction I was staring intensely.

My mom laughed at me,"Did I give you the exact amount by mistake?"
Bad payment day, I suppose.

Mooncake Festival

The mooncake festival party in my friend's mom's kindergarten was pretty awesome, I have to say..

My mom and my sis went too.. I told Elaine they would come, and they must come..It's not like everyday you get to see children in kimonos. My sis didn't want to go in the first place..She was ranting over and over again on how tired she was...We actually stayed in the Hyatt hotel on Saturday. because my mom doesn't want to spend a night under the same roof as my dad..And she has to leave for Malacca the next day, so we won't be able to go to Singapore and stay in her apartment for the night..So, my mom booked a place in Hyatt...It's like, a few hundred years since I have last been there..My sis and I were actually very surprised when we entered the hotel lobby. I used to go to Piccolo's situated in the basement of Hyatt when I was a little girl when my family was still, *sighs* complete..We loved to listen to the indie band sing in Piccolo's..Even my grandparents went..

My sis went on complaining that she did not want to go to the party..My mom brought us to Plaza Pelangi before the party started to purchase a gift for the kindergarten..We bought some chocolates as the gift in Chocolate Fantasy..

By the time we got there, the party had already started..Elaine told me that if we got there earlier, we might have been able to see the Japanese kids perform..But the kids do look cute in their kimonos...They were in pink, red, blue and yellow kimonos..Some of their parents were in kimonos too..According to Elaine, most of the kimonos were made by the childrens' mothers..After eating, Elaine took me on a tour around the kindergarten..Some of the classrooms bear a striking resemblance to the ones we had in Q-dees, and for that moment, I wished I was little again..Elaine told me that little kids play and laugh all day long, with no signs of exhaustion and definitely, they are free from stress..

Many of the adults were busy snapping photos of the children..My sis took my phone and started taking photos of them.."They're too cute to be true..", someone said in the midst of the crowd..The kids started singing with their lanterns in hand, smiling at the crowd..Elaine told me that a girl named Ayaka would be leaving the school the next day, and this party was also held to bid her farewell..

The photo below is one of the photos snapped by my sis..Had to swim across the crowd in order to snap one decent picture..The quality is rather crappy..

You can still see how cute the kids look even though the picture's of lousy quality..

The party ended with the kids releasing balloons into the air..The balloons were tied onto a lantern..I wonder where they are now..^^;

We decided to leave earlier cos my mom had a terrible headache..But it was a wonderful experience..And my sis didn't regret attending the party after all..

Drawing..drawing..and drawing

*Sighs*..Why do I like, post something in my blog for like once in three months? I'm soooo lazy..And everytime I post something here, I don't know what to write..

I've been very busy for the past few months..Because of the Merdeka celebrations, there's tons of drawings I needed to draw..There was this banner, a kad ucapan for Pak Lah, a kad ucapan for Malaysia, a portrait of Tunku Abdul Rahman..And geez...after the portrait competition, there was another one..but I rejected the offer because I might have gone crazy anytime..

And there were the exams..Just recently we had our Gerak Gempur exams..I dunno why the school organized it for..It's not going to be counted in our streaming anyway..But the papers were quite easy, I must say..Except for Science, maybe..

I am so obsessed with Bleach!!! Well, it's not like yesterday I started watching it..it's like ages ago, but for no reason I am particularly obsessed with it now..^^ I actually took time off to watch the Bount arc in Youtube.. I heard fans saying that the Bount arc is one of the most boring arcs in Bleach..But after watching it, it's not so bad..At least Ichigo and gang get to return to Soul Society..But some of the Bounts do get on my nerves..Other than that..I like the three Mod Souls that appear in the arc..Kon is cute, but I think I like Ririn, Cloud and Nova more.(maybe because they are not as perverted as him..) I like Nova the best..He's really cute..It's a pity he always hides himself inside his hood..

To some of the Bleach fans out there, try watching the Rock Musical..If I'm not mistaken, there are four musicals released..It's quite cool to see Bleach characters live on stage..Their songs may not be that nice, but the costumes are cool..Try imagining Bleach cosplayers acting in a musical..It's something like that.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow cos I can see my mum again! My friend also invited me to go to a party her mom's organizing in conjuction with the Mooncake Festival tomorrow evening..(even though it's a little early)..Her mom owns a kindergarten that specially caters to Japanese children, so tomorrow we get to see the Japanese children together with their mothers dressed in kimonos ..I bet they would look really cute..
