It's the weekend again..I'm back in Singapore.^_^
Right now my sis's in Genting. She left for her year-end school trip yesterday. She gets to stay in Genting for three days and KL for one days. So that means that she is able to play non-stop in the themepark for three consecutive days..Wow..
My mum picked me up from my school yesterday and we went straight to Singapore..We had to go to school yesterday because of some replacement for the Hari Raya Holidays..Only our school and Foon Yew had schooling, it isn't fair..Why does our school have so many replacement holidays? Oh, well...I think yesterday's the last replacement, which is good.
We stayed overnight at my godmother's house. She owns a penthouse, the kind of house that youngsters nowadays like to stay at, because the structure of the house is very close to the roof..
My godmother owns a dog called Nelly. When she first saw me, she licked my hands and feet non-stop..It was the first time I got that close with a pet..I am not the animal-lover like some of my friends, so this is the first time a dog's licked me..My godmom says Nelly likes to make friends, and she probably wants to be friends with me..Well, it's okay to be friendly, but Nelly actually licked my hands every 15-20 minutes..Which is ticklish..Very. But she's really cute for a dog. She's very greedy when it comes to food. My godmom's son told me that she swallowed one whole mooncake which is left on the dining table by herself! But I'm a total idiot when it comes to taking care of dogs, so I won't ever rear one..
My mum and I went to Parkway Parade today. I told my mom after lunch that I wanted to go to a manga shop there.
I scrutinized the book shelves one by one..All the manga sold there are considered authentic because they are distributed by licensed publishers..The ones sold in Malaysia are considered "pirated" ones..You know, those that are sold at RM4.50 each, aren't original..But nobody cares because an original manga costs at least $5.00(Sing dollars), which is not affordable if you want to purchase large amounts of manga in one go.
I saw the first volume of La Corda D'oro there..My heart leaped..I have always wanted to buy it but I just can't find the "economical" version in Malaysia..So I guess I will just buy the original one..
I took it from the shelf. The only problem's now is my mom. She usually allows me to buy manga or anime anytime as long as I can pay myself..But in Singapore, I can't buy as "freely" as in Malaysia because most of the time, I don't have Singapore currency..I remember I have 4 $1 coins that originate from my ang pow money from my godmom in my bag..They're buried so deep in my bag that I can't seem to look for it..My mom came and said that we would be leaving to go see some electronic products..I held on to the manga tightly, looking at my mom with the "I-want-to-buy-this-manga" expression. She suddenly asked me,"How much is it?"
I replied,"They didn't state the price, but I guess it's $5 something." Original manga translated in Chinese usually cost something like this, I think."I may have $4 in my bag...", I fumbled through my bag..
"Take this..", said my mom. She passed me two $2 notes.."That should be enough..", I rummaged through my bag. Fortunately, I found two $1 coins..This way, the amount of the money now should sum up to the total amount of money needed.
"I'll wait for you outside the electronics shop", said my mom. I quickly lined up at the counter. Two boys standing in front of me held four Bleach mangas in their hands. The cashier told them that the total amount of money for all the mangas was about $20 something..I heaved a sigh of relief because the money in my hand may just be enough. When it's my turn, the cashier scanned the bar code, smiled at me, and said "$7.44, please."
I looked at the $6 in my hand..Looks like I still don't have enough money.. I remember that there was still two $1 coins in my bag.Lifesaver.I started rummaging through my bag..I pulled out a $1 coin..Now's there one more left..One more, and I will have enough.
"Where is it?" I can't seem to find it..The cashier looked at me, and said,"It's okay, you can just pay the amount of money you have now."
I was embarrased. Never before in my life have I experience such a situation whereby I don't pay the exact amount of cash to a cashier. I tried looking again, but realize it was no use. So the cashier gave me a discount. And I paid $7 for the manga.
I felt rather bad that I ran out of the store right after I paid the cashier. I checked my bag again and found the $1 in it. Wish I had found it earlier.
My mom brought me to Ben and Jerry's after visiting a furniture shop. She asked me to go buy a Tiramisu myself. I checked the price. It was $6.50. My mom gave me $6 with a few coins. I was worried the amount of money wasn't sufficient. The cashier counted and said,"It's $7.50"..
Great. I'm not even sure if the coins add up the remaing $1.50. Is the tip in Singapore that much? I decided to just give whatever I have to the cashier without calculating the exact amount of the money I have now. I quickly looked towards my mom's table in fear that the amount wasn't enough..
Strangely, there was no"Miss, you need to pay $xxx more" kind of thing. The cashier just said, "Thank you very much. Is this where you are sitting?" She looked at the direction I was staring intensely.
My mom laughed at me,"Did I give you the exact amount by mistake?"
Bad payment day, I suppose.
"Give us a RIGHT to exist."
